5 Things Nobody Told You About Working with a Photographer (But Should Have)

Working with me isn’t just about photos—it’s about connecting, having fun, and capturing moments that feel like you. Here are five things you might not expect when working with me as your photographer.

1. It’s Okay to Be Nervous—Really
Most people start off saying, “I’m awkward” or “I never take good pictures,” and trust me, I hear it all the time. Guess what? That’s normal! My job isn’t just to snap pictures—it’s to make you feel at ease. I’ll guide you every step of the way and probably crack some self-deprecating jokes to lighten the mood. I always tell people that the first 10 minutes may feel weird, but by the end, you’ll feel like a natural (or at least like you survived a fun time with a friend).

2. We’ll Have a Pre-Session Pep Talk
Before your session, we’ll chat about everything—what you’re dreaming of, what to wear, and how to avoid those dreaded “What do I do with my hands?” moments. This isn’t just about logistics; it’s about getting to know you. The more I learn about who you are, the better I can capture your story.

3. Imperfect Moments Are Often the Best Ones
I live for the in-between moments: the messy laughs, the wind blowing through your hair, or that second your kid decides to strike their own pose. Those are the shots that end up being everyone’s favorites—the ones that scream real life!!!!! Forget perfect; let’s embrace the magic in the imperfections.

4. I’m Your Hype Person, Not Just Your Photographer
I’m here to fix your hair, adjust your outfit, and gas you up when you need it most. Need someone to make your kid laugh? Done. Feeling like you need a confidence boost? I’ve got you. By the end of the session, you’ll feel celebrated, not scrutinized.

5. It’s About More Than Just Photos
Sure, you’ll walk away with a gallery full of moments, but this is about more than just pictures. It’s about freezing time for just a second, capturing what matters most, and creating something you’ll treasure forever. For me, photography is about connection—and that’s what I hope you feel when you look back on your session.
